The majority of these are tertiary referral specialties. There are many high-risk outpatient assessment clinics to cover the specialties we serve. The maternity unit is a tertiary centre with a delivery rate that fluctuates from about 6000 to 6500 deliveries per year. We are the East Midlands lead for abnormally adherent placentas (acreta). The Intensive care unit has a direct take from the Emergency Department and has staffing for a dependency of approximately 25 over 28 physical beds. Our ICM consultants also have regular sessions in central operating. The hospital is a level 2 trauma centre and we transfer out major neurosurgery to local centres.
