Pilgrim Hospital, Boston

Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, is a modern District General Hospital with 686 beds, and serves the needs of a catchment population of approximately 177,500 people. There are seven modern operating theatres, plus an Obstetrics theatre and a well-equipped six bed combined Intensive Care and High Dependency Unit. A wide range of sophisticated support services is available and there is an active Pain Management Unit staffed by two consultants.

The post offers experience in Anaesthesia for most types of surgery with the exception of Neurosurgery, Thoracic Surgery and Cardiac Surgery (except as these arise in the emergency treatment of casualties).

There is a purpose built Postgraduate Medical Centre with a well maintained medical library under the charge of a qualified librarian.

A postgraduate programme of regular lectures and meetings is in operation, organised by a designated Clinical Tutor. Lectures, clinical meetings and tutorials are held on a regular weekly basis organised through the Anaesthetic Department by the Faculty Tutor.
